There is no need to broadcast that Cannabis in South Africa is in crisis.
We all know that.
The Cannabis Crisis Committee has been formed following the suspension of all SAHPRA-issued Section 21 permits in July this year. Coming from Fields of Green for ALL, this should be good news as we all know that this system has been abused on a very large scale since the Constitutional judgement of 2018. Nefarious operators (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) have promoted a system whereby anyone, health condition or not, can simply walk into a shop and buy whatever weed they want, claiming “medicinal use”. We call this “lie to get high” and, obviously, this corruption and blatant misrepresentation of facts could not go on forever.
However, real patients who have been obtaining real Cannabis medicine from real Section 21 permits, obtained by following the SAHPRA protocol to the tee, are now being denied their medicine. We doubt that the cowboys who have precipitated this particular crisis feel anything for these patients.
As always, this is complicated and we would like to unpack the situation and hope you can join us for the webinar on Monday 2 November at 12noon via Cannabiz Africa’s new webinar portal.
